Houston does not freeze often, which is exactly why freezes do so much damage here. Pool equipment in North Houston sits outside, above ground, with no insulation, and a single hard freeze can crack pumps, filters, heaters and pipes. February 2021 taught thousands of owners that lesson. Our job is to make sure your pool is ready before the cold arrives: freeze protection set and tested, your pump running when it needs to be, and a plan for what to do if the power goes out. When damage does happen, we repair it.
Freeze-protection checks, automation settings and freeze-damage repair for Houston cold snaps.
Freeze protection on your automation set and tested, and the equipment checked for anything that would fail in a cold snap.
Moving water is the protection. During a freeze the pump should run continuously until temperatures rise.
If the power goes out in a hard freeze, equipment may need draining. We explain how, and help where we can.
Cracked pump housings, split filters, heater damage and broken pipes diagnosed and repaired after a freeze.
We send customers freeze instructions when hard freezes are forecast, as we did in January 2026.
Why people call us
How it works

Timing. Check freeze protection in October or November. Hard freezes in Houston are most likely from December to February.
Automation freeze protection enabled and tested, pump and equipment checked.
Pump set to run continuously, spa circulated too, and do not wrap or cover motors — they need air to cool.
Equipment may need draining to prevent cracking. We give customers step-by-step guidance.
Check for leaks and cracks before restarting, and call us if anything is wet that should not be.
How it is priced
A written price, before work starts
An autumn freeze check and automation set-up is priced as a service call. Freeze-damage repairs vary from a cracked fitting to a replacement pump or heater. Please note: freeze damage is not covered by routine weekly service and is billed separately — the protection is in the preparation.
We look at the pool first, then give you a written price. Nothing starts until you have agreed to it.
We come out, look at the pool and give you a written price. No charge and no obligation.
Owner Brian supervises each project. You can reach the people who run the company, not a call centre.
We diagnose before we sell, and tell you when something is a simple fix you could do yourself.
Accredited by the Better Business Bureau for more than twenty years, and family-owned since 1982.

I have been using Aloha Swimming Pools Inc. for about a year and they are amazing! Their customer service is 10/10...They are always available to answer questions as they come up (for a first time pool owner - they came up a lot). 24/7 support and they make sure you are prepared when there is a freeze. They do a great job weekly coming out to clean the pool. Because of them, I get to enjoy my pool with my family instead of working on my pool for my family!

I can't say enough about the people at Aloha. I had an issue with my pool that had been essentially non-functional for 18 months (thank you Texas February Freeze). We had paid two different companies to drain, wash and fix the issues. Thousands of dollars, but nothing worked. We gave up. I finally decided I would not keep looking at a swamp. Brian called me back within 5 minutes. Chris was at my house that very same day, starting the fixes. Michael was there two days later, vacuuming. Chris came on Monday, finished the vacuuming, and worked on the water balance. They found other issues, and are in the process of fixing all of them! Long story short, I have never seen such great customer service. They have been professional, friendly, prompt, and honest. Each one of them has gone above and beyond for us. Our pool is almost back to pre-freeze! I will not ever let anyone else touch our pool. They are amazing.

Brian and his team are fabulous! I never have to worry about my pool. They come every week without fail. During the winter storm Brian made himself available to answer all my questions so that I could best protect my pool and pipes. He came by afterwards to make sure everything was ok. Very responsive customer service.
Where we do it
Before you call
Something not answered here? Call (832) 528-4979 — we would rather talk it through than have you guess.
Yes — continuously, until temperatures are safely back above freezing. Moving water is far less likely to freeze than still water in pipes and equipment. If you have a pool and spa, make sure water circulates through both. If your automation has freeze protection, confirm it is turned on, but on a hard freeze many owners also set the pump to run manually as a belt-and-braces measure.
Do not wrap or cover a running pump motor. Motors need air to cool, and a covered motor can overheat and fail, which is the opposite of what you want. Exposed pipes and valves can be insulated, and some owners use a breathable cover over parts of the pad that are not running, but the motor itself should stay uncovered while it runs.
Without power the pump stops and water sits in the equipment, which is where damage happens. For a long outage in a hard freeze, the equipment may need draining — opening drain plugs on the pump, filter and heater. That is not something to guess at in the dark; our customers get written instructions before freezes, and you can call us for guidance. Do not restart equipment after a freeze until you have checked it for cracks.
No. Freeze damage is not covered by routine service and is billed separately, which we state openly rather than bury in small print. What weekly service does give you is equipment checked before winter, automation freeze settings confirmed and instructions when a freeze is forecast. The most expensive freeze repairs we see are almost all on pools that were not prepared.

We come out, look at the pool properly, and put a written price together before any work starts.
