The white or grey crust along the waterline is calcium, and in Houston it builds on almost every pool. Summer evaporation concentrates the minerals in the water, top-ups add more, and the waterline dries and re-wets all day long. At first it wipes off; after a few summers it is a hard band that no brush will touch. We remove it from tile and stone without damaging the surface, and — just as important — we tell you why it built up so it does not come straight back.
Hard-water scale, stains and calcium lifted off tile and stone without damaging the surface.
Newer, softer calcium carbonate lifts with hand tools and a cleaner suited to the tile, without draining the pool.
Older, harder calcium silicate needs a stronger method. We tell you which you have before pricing it.
Metal stains and organic marks treated with the right chemistry for what they are.
Glass, porcelain and natural stone each tolerate different methods; the wrong one etches or scratches them.
Calcium hardness and pH brought into range so the scale does not rebuild by next summer.
Why people call us
How it works

Timing. Best done in spring, before the pool opens for the summer, or in autumn after a season of heavy evaporation has left its mark.
Calcium carbonate, calcium silicate, metal staining — each looks similar and needs a different approach.
We clean a small area first so you see the result and we confirm the tile will not be harmed.
The full band cleaned, with the water lowered if needed.
Water chemistry adjusted and a note left on how to keep the line clear.
How it is priced
A written price, before work starts
Soft deposits on a typical pool come off quickly. Heavy, hard scale on a long waterline or water features takes more time and a stronger method, which moves the price up. We look first, test a patch, then quote.
We look at the pool first, then give you a written price. Nothing starts until you have agreed to it.
We come out, look at the pool and give you a written price. No charge and no obligation.
Owner Brian supervises each project. You can reach the people who run the company, not a call centre.
We diagnose before we sell, and tell you when something is a simple fix you could do yourself.

Where we do it

Evaporation. In a Houston summer a pool can lose an inch or more of water a week, and the minerals do not evaporate with it — they stay behind and concentrate. Every top-up adds more dissolved calcium. Combine that with high pH and warm water and the calcium comes out of solution at the waterline, where the tile dries and re-wets constantly.
Light, soft scale often comes off with a pumice stone made for pool tile or a calcium remover, used gently on porcelain. Be careful: pumice will scratch glass tile, and strong acids can etch stone and grout. If the deposit is hard and grey rather than white and chalky, it is probably calcium silicate, which does not respond to household methods at all.
It will if the water chemistry stays the same. Keeping pH and calcium hardness in range, and not letting the pool run with a high saturation index through summer, slows it dramatically. Pools on weekly service with balanced water tend to need tile cleaning far less often. We leave you a note on what to watch.
Usually not. Most waterline cleaning is done with the water lowered a few inches below the tile band. Draining is only needed when the deposits run well below the waterline or when the job is combined with other work that needs the pool empty.

We come out, look at the pool properly, and put a written price together before any work starts.
