Pool Service, Repair & Remodeling in The Woodlands, TX

The Woodlands was built into a pine forest on purpose, and every pool here lives with the consequences: needles, cones, oak leaves and pollen falling into the water almost every week of the year.

Pools in The Woodlands

Pool care in The Woodlands: soil, water and HOA rules

Pools in the older villages date from the 1970s and 1980s; the newer ones in Sterling Ridge and Creekside Park are larger, with spas, automation and features. A customer here called us “the best kept well known secret in The Woodlands,” which we will happily take.

Grogan's Mill and Panther Creek hold some of the oldest pools in the area — original plaster, small equipment pads and tile from another era — and they are prime remodel candidates. Cochran's Crossing, Indian Springs and Alden Bridge are mostly 1990s pools reaching their second replaster. Sterling Ridge, Creekside Park and Carlton Woods have large modern pools where automation, LED lighting and heaters matter more than plaster. Across all of them, the canopy is the constant: skimmer baskets fill fast, filters load up, and pools left for a week in spring turn yellow-green with pollen and algae.

Soil
Sandier soils than Harris County to the south, typical of the Piney Woods, generally over clay subsoil. Drainage is better, but tree roots near pools and decks are a factor.
Water
Water is supplied through The Woodlands’ MUD system, with surface water from Lake Conroe via the San Jacinto River Authority. Outdoor watering schedules apply; check current rules before draining and refilling.
HOAs
The Woodlands Township and village associations have detailed covenants. Remodels that change the pool’s footprint, deck or fencing typically need architectural approval before work starts.

Living with the forest

The Woodlands’ tree cover is the reason people live here and the main reason pools here need more care. Pine needles slip through skimmer weirs and pack into pump baskets. Oak catkins and pollen in March and April coat the surface in yellow and feed algae. Autumn leaves sink and stain plaster if they sit.

None of that is a reason not to have a pool. It is a reason to service it weekly, clean filters more often than a treeless pool needs, and consider a leaf canister or a robotic cleaner. On routes here we plan the extra time in rather than rushing it.

Local questions

Pool service questions from The Woodlands homeowners

Something specific to your pool? Call (832) 528-4979 — we would rather look at it than guess.

How do you handle all the pine needles in Woodlands pools?

By planning for them. Pools here get skimmer and pump baskets emptied every visit, filters cleaned more often than we would on an open lot, and the floor vacuumed rather than left to the automatic cleaner. For heavily wooded lots we often suggest a leaf canister on the cleaner line or a robotic cleaner. That keeps the pump from starving for water between visits.

Do you work in the older villages like Grogan's Mill and Panther Creek?

Yes, and those villages are where a lot of our remodel and replaster work in The Woodlands happens. Many pools there date from the community's early years and have been replastered once already. We look at the shell, tile, coping and equipment together and tell you which parts need attention now and which can wait.

Do I need Woodlands HOA approval for pool work?

For repairs and like-for-like replacements, generally not. For changes that alter what the pool or deck looks like from outside — new decking, a changed footprint, new fencing or major remodel features — The Woodlands’ covenants usually require architectural approval first. We can provide the scope and drawings your application needs. Check your village’s current rules before work is scheduled.

Do you service the larger pools in Sterling Ridge and Creekside Park?

Yes. Pools in the newer villages are often larger, with attached spas, heaters, water features and automation. They take longer to service and have more equipment to keep an eye on, and we price the weekly service to match rather than squeezing them into a small-pool time slot.
