Pool Leak Detection in Spring, TX
Spring sits on the line between two kinds of ground. South of the creek, in the Harris County neighbourhoods off Cypresswood and Louetta, it is clay that swells after rain and shrinks in drought — hard on underground pool plumbing and the joint between deck and coping.

What we see in Spring
Common pool leak detection problems in Spring
Toward Spring Creek and north into Montgomery County, it turns sandier, and a leak can drain away underground without ever leaving a soggy patch to point at it. Either way, the method is the same: prove there is a leak, work out whether it is in the shell, the fittings, the plumbing or the pad, and pinpoint it before anyone cuts concrete. One Spring reviewer wrote that we found their leak after others had failed for hours.
- Suction lines cracking under clay movement after a dry summer
- Light niches and skimmer throats leaking on 1980s pools
- Leaks in sandier soils near the creek that never show on the surface
- Gaps opening between deck and coping that let water escape
- Equipment-pad leaks mistaken for pool leaks
A local tip
Run your bucket test in spring or autumn if you can. In a Spring summer, evaporation and afternoon storms make the numbers noisy; on a mild, still week the difference between evaporation and a leak is much easier to read.

Local questions
Pool leak detection questions from Spring pool owners
General questions are on the service page. These are the ones that come up in Spring.
Why do Spring pools develop leaks after dry summers?
Much of Spring’s Harris County side is on clay that shrinks as it dries and swells when wet. That movement stresses underground plumbing and fittings, and a joint that has been fine for years can crack during a dry spell. Leaks often show up when the rains return and the ground settles again.
Can you find a leak that is not making the yard wet?
Yes. In the sandier soils near Spring Creek, water can drain away without making the surface soggy. We rely on water-loss measurements, dye testing and line pressure testing rather than looking for wet ground.
Can a cracked deck mean my Spring pool is leaking?
Sometimes. A crack running toward the pool or a widening gap at the coping can let water escape from the pool, and water escaping into Spring’s clay can in turn make the deck move more. It works both ways, which is why we look at the deck and coping joint during a leak inspection. A cracked deck alone does not prove a leak, but it is a good reason to run a bucket test.
Is my water bill spike in Spring from the pool?
It might be, especially if the pool has an automatic fill valve that quietly tops it up. Turn the auto-fill off for a few days and run a bucket test. If the pool drops well beyond the bucket, the pool is the likely culprit.
